New Online Community for Public Defenders
Public defenders play an integral part in our justice system. Over the past few weeks, the Nebraska State Bar Association has put together a directory of lawyers serving as public defenders in our state court system. You are receiving this email because we believe that you are currently serving as a public defender in Nebraska or serving counties through the Nebraska Commission on Public Advocacy. Our draft spreadsheet of who we believe is serving which counties is attached. Please check our work and let me know if you have any corrections (lneeley@nebar.com) or would like to be removed from the group.
Using that list, the NSBA has created an online community/listserv exclusively for public defenders in our state court system to share resources about substantive legal issues and for ways to improve the quality of indigent defense in Nebraska. If you are new to the NSBA's online communities, here is a link to several brief "how to" videos. To send an email to all public defenders in Nebraska, simply type "NEBAR-publicdefenders@ConnectedCommunity.org" in the "to" field of your email from the email that you have on file with the Nebraska Sate Bar Association. Please note that when you receive an email through the listserv you will have the option of replying to the sender or replying all. If you select "reply all" the content of your message will be sent to all public defenders in Nebraska.
