Leading into Thanksgiving, I wanted to reach out and say thank you so much for being a VLP Volunteer Attorney! Thanks to 215 attorneys and dozens of law students, paralegals, DOJ Accredited Representatives and others, VLP has already helped more than 2,000 low-income families across Nebraska in 2024. If you haven't had a chance to volunteer yet in 2024, please consider doing so.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Tenants Assistance Project, an eviction defense project in Douglas and Lancaster County, reach out to Alan Dugger at Adugger@nevlp.org . There may also be reduced fee work available through this project if that is of interest to you.

If you are interested in volunteering with a community based clinic, Nebraska Free Legal Answers, or a virtual or in-person self help center please reach out to Mara Kellogg at mkellogg@nevlp.org

Finally, one of our biggest needs right now is for attorneys to take cases either for full representation or limited scope, particularly for our reduced fee case program where we use grant funds to pay attorneys $80/hour to represent victims of domestic violence in civil legal matters such as divorce and custody. You can review our no-fee and reduced fee case lists here. If you want more information about this program you can also email Rob Schmidt at rschmidt@nevlp.org .

Thank you for all that you do to help make justice for all a reality.

    Sincerely,
