Hello everyone,
Had an interesting question come up. One of the communities I serve has a consumer that failed to pay their water/sewer/garbage bill to the village and was disconnected from water services through the appropriate disconnect procedures. However, the individual is continuing to reside on the premises without water service but is believed to still be using sewer service.
First question, how do other communities handle continued use of sewer services after disconnect?
Second question, how do other communities handle garbage service after disconnect? Obvious answer is to discontinue garbage pickup so this one is in relation to state law requiring municipalities to ensure garbage service (N.R.S. 13-2020). Does this not apply if the customer has not paid their bill?
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone has in dealing with this situation.
